The Summit opened today for three days.

As a local and international platform for aviation discussion and debate, this Summit provides insight into the latest technology and sustainability advancements in this industry alongside innovative speaker topics and panel discussions.

Since its inception, this Summit has brought together global Air Navigation Service Providers, civil aviation personnel, researchers and thought leaders in order to engage in topics spanning everything from research and development in aviation, to aeronautical innovation and unmanned aircraft as well as the liberalisation of African airspace.

The Summit has grown from a one-day conference to a must-attend event that now includes the  AVI Awards, Safety Presentations and ATNS’s Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) Conference. Last year’s overall AVI Awards winner, Mark van Wyk, submitted an entry for a fixed-wing unmanned aircraft powered by hydrogen fuel cells designed, developed and manufactured by HySA Catalysis at the University of Cape Town. This submission has set an impressive benchmark for the next batch of AVI Awards entrants.

The Summit theme for 2016 is "Aviation innovation for regional integration in Africa, contributing towards economic infrastructure development and social cohesion".
